Freestyle Earbuds by Bose

Posted on 03 November 2014 by ChrisD

Ear-bud style headphones by Bose will appeal to all music lovers that do not like head sets that jam into their ears. What you have here is a design that offers maximum comfort to your ears. The earphones sit loosely in your ear and remain in place thanks to soft silicon tips that resemble wings. These StayHear tips are available in 3 different sizes. Ideally, you should go for the medium size for maximum comfort.

The design of the Freestyle earbuds is not unique. It closely resembles various headphone models, most notably the SIE2I, also by Bose. The latter is a sports model. Both headphones are water and sweat resistant. The difference is that while the ISE2i comes with a two chords (a default shorter one to use with an armband, and a longer extender cable), the Freestyle features a cable that somewhere along the middle. You have a 45+ inch cable is neither too short, nor extremely long.

It is these small design improvements that differentiate the Freestyle model from other Bose headphones. The company has tried to rebrand their existing suite of products by tweaking a feature here and there, perhaps to target younger customers with a visually appealing ‘open’ design.

Other features of the headphone include its ability to offer full bass. There is also an integrated remote and microphone.
The downside of the Freestyle headphone is that sound seeps in, which means the proverbial ‘shutting the world off and turning the music on’ is impossible if you are in a noisy environment. Another relatively minor low point is the fact that Windows and Android smartphone users will not find all the remote features working smoothly.

To sum up, priced at $130 (carrying case included), the Bose Freestyle banks on its superior design with good audio options. It may not be the most audibly sound out there, but it does offer good value for money.
