Be One With Your Car – Nissan Launches a Smartwatch Which Links Car and Driver

Posted on 03 October 2013

Monitoring your car’s performance can be tricky. It’s always a pain to monitor the mileage, to change the engine oil and keep tabs on when it needs a tune up. Imagine a device that measures the car’s performance for you and lets you know what to do. Such a device would make a driver’s life a lot easier. Well, you don’t need to imagine the luxury of such a device anymore. Renowned Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has introduced a smartwatch which measures the efficiency of cars.

But that’s not it; the watch is also designed to monitor the driver’s vital signs and driving performance. Nissan calls it the Nismo smartwatch.

The Nismo smartwatch was revealed at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 and is in its development stages. However, Nissan aims at manufacturing it for a variety of cars. The watch features an amazing seven-day battery life. It also has a Micro-USB port for charging and connects to the car via a low energy Bluetooth connection. That aside, it is meant to secure itself to the driver’s wrist with a snap-fit mechanism.

The smartwatch is meant to connect the driver and the car together. It monitors the driver’s heart rate while driving in different situations. The watch also aims at monitoring the driver’s health condition. So, if the driver is going too fast and their heart rate is irregular, the watch will warn the driver to slow down. Considering the way the watch connects to the driver and the car and warns the driver at the first sign of trouble, the Nismo may very well be the future in safe driving technology.

In addition, to your biometric stats and the car’s performance, the Nismo smartwatch monitors your social media popularity. Just sync your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social media account to the Nismo and you will you receive constant feeds regarding your popularity.

Nissan has not provided a release date or a price for the Nismo at the moment, but you can definitely expect to see this device in the near future.

Galaxy S4 Shipment Reaches 6 Million

Posted on 23 May 2013

The Korean giant, Samsung has been one of the top leading brands in electronic items among many others. The company itself has a team of qualified and experienced professionals who are always engaged in brainstorming bringing out new and innovative new gadgets. Samsung has also captured the telecommunication market with its continuous release of many mobile phones while integrating them with the latest Android OS. The Android OS has found its way in many electronic devices and it’ll not be wrong to say that every other gadget is integrated with it.

Galaxy, which is the title given to the batch of Samsung smartphones has become so prominent that everyone has an eye out for it. And whenever there is news of any upcoming release, it always creates an adrenaline feeling among users. The recent launch of Galaxy S4 on April 26 received an overwhelming response by users from round the world.

Samsung stated that the company has supplied four million units of Galaxy S4 worldwide as calculated in April and just recently till May 10th; almost six million are already on the way out which is something noteworthy. If this rate keeps of increasing, then by the end of 2013 the shipment is expected to go in billions. But looking at the pace with which the company is developing smartphones, it’s a possibility that a new set will be introduced later in the same year that will surpass S4. Samsung also pointed specifically that the shipment is not just the sales to end consumers but is a sum of its delivery to retailers and many other promoting partners.

Galaxy S4 comes at #2 when compared with the fastest OS being iPhone 5 at the top. However, it’s still one of the top brands and the shipment is likely to reach 10 million by the end of May 2013.

Jetman Uses His Body as Flight Controls

Posted on 22 May 2008

I know this clip is old, but I stumbled on it and it was too cool to pass up posting. This dude, Yves Rossy, created a wing he could wear on his back and strapped four small jet engines to it. I know the result sounds like something you’d see in the turn of the century silent films where the dude takes a header off a pier, but oh no. This guy actually flies. A real like jet-man. He uses only his body movements and position to steer himself. At first the clip sort of looks like a controlled free fall, but keep watching. The jet engines offer lift and he’s able to control where he’s going. Pretty damn cool.

NodorO: a Solution for Male Genital Odor

Posted on 16 January 2008

If you missed Howard Stern on the David Letterman show talking about Nodoro, then you’re in luck. Here’s the clip. I’m not sure the product qualifies as a gadget, but it’s too odd not to post. Almost unbelievable but I kid you not, this is a real product for what they claim is a real problem. According to NodorO™, Male Genital Odors (MGO) is a problem that affects approximately 33 million, mostly uncircumcised, American males. The solution: NodorO™, a topical cream with the active ingredient of Clotrimazole that is applied to the “smelly” area. There is a very funny (albeit, I assume serious) FAQ page with questions like, “Will NodorO™ remove odors around my scrotum area?” and “What happens if NodorO™ gets in contact with a woman’s genitals?”. All kidding aside, the product is FDA approved and judging by the customer testimonials work great if you have MGO!

Man Turns Blue After Using Odd Gadget

Posted on 20 December 2007

Do you remember when George drank that concoction from the medical healer and turned blue? I don’t know if that Seinfeld plot was based off of this guy, but this is one of the craziest stories I have heard. For the past 14 years, 57-year-old Paul Karason has slowly been turning blue after using some odd gadget to inject silver into water. Paul was using the water as a universal cure-all, but insists that the turning blue side effect is from him rubbing it on his skin and not from drinking it. I could not make this stuff up, and apparently neither could Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.

Table Made of Silverware

Posted on 22 May 2007

Silverware Coffee Table by Toni Grilo

This table made completely out of recycled knives, forks and spoons has the potential to be the most agrivating object on earth. It’s created by artist Toni Grilo, and if you don’t have anything in the house to eat it will taught you to no end. Of course if your coffee table is made completely out of old Taco bell wrappers and hot sauce packets like mine, then, well, um, you’d be, ah, full.
