Apple iPhone owners will soon be getting a major firmware update packed full of new stuff. The iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 update isn’t officially out yet, but here’s a lengthly preview video showing some of the new features and capabilities the update may provide. The video details some cool new features like a customizable home screen. You can rearrange the order of the icons by dragging them with your finger and even move them in and out of the iPhone dock. Also shown is the ability to add a bookmark from Safari directly to the home screen and send SMS to multiple recipients. Google maps on the iPhone also received some new features like the ability to view maps in Hybrid mode (aerial view with street markups),add manual locations and a poor man’s GPS called Locate Me. While not a true GPS solution, Locate Me can show your current position (albeit a very wide area) on the map.
According to MacScoop, the 1.1.3 update video out there may not be the final features that iPhone user will get and that copy n paste may also be included. The top ten lists of 2007 are rolling in and Time has posted its list of the top ten viral videos of the year. At the top is the remarkable stupid Leave Britney Alone! plea from Chris Crocker. I can’t believe it has been viewed over 18 million times! At number two is the very funny sketch from Will Ferrel’s Funny or Die project, The Landlord. At number three is the funny (but sad) Miss South Carolina Teen USA clip. The rest of the top ten include the Hillary Clinton “Big Brother” attack ad, the prison “Thriller” video, and the Daft Hands clip.
Do you remember when George drank that concoction from the medical healer and turned blue? I don’t know if that Seinfeld plot was based off of this guy, but this is one of the craziest stories I have heard. For the past 14 years, 57-year-old Paul Karason has slowly been turning blue after using some odd gadget to inject silver into water. Paul was using the water as a universal cure-all, but insists that the turning blue side effect is from him rubbing it on his skin and not from drinking it. I could not make this stuff up, and apparently neither could Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.
This video of UFO’s over Haiti is creating quite the buzz. Looks pretty convincing too. UFO’s flying low over palm trees at sunset. The two join in formation and then disappear. Well, a few tell tale signs the video is a fake. First, you have to figure whoever shot the video would have been screaming like a girl with two UFOs over his head. Which brings us to the conclusion the video wasn’t ‘shot’, but created in the computer.

The Geminid Meteor shower for 2007 will be reaching its peak over the next couple of days. Here’s video of the shower taken from last year’s event. Pretty cool. Below are a few tips on the best way to view this years Geminid shower depending on where you live.
This meteor shower is active from November 30 through December 18th, with maximum activity occurring on the 14th. Near maximum activity this shower can produce over 100 shower members per hour as seen from rural locations.
Observers in the southern hemisphere can also enjoy the Geminids, but at a reduced rate since the radiant is located lower in their northern sky. From far southern locations Geminid activity is visible for only a few hours centered between 0100 and 0200 LST.
For northern observers, the best strategy is to center your watch between the hours of 0100 and 0200. At this time one can face in any direction and view the most activity. Be sure to look approximately half way up in the sky opposed to straight up. Viewing closer to the horizon allows you to look though a thicker slice of the atmosphere where you will see more activity.
The game is so violent that is was banned in Britain until it’s developer won a court ruling to reconsider its rating. Take a look at the trailer and judge for yourself.
