Cristano Ronaldo verses a Bugatti Veyron

Just what the hell Mercurial Vapor Shoes are I’m not sure. But Nike’s new ad pits Cristiano Ronaldo (wearing a pair) against the Bugatti Veyron. Man verses machine. Sounds silly art first until you see the short distance they’re racing, and the fact that they have to stop and run back (the Bugatti uses reverse). So maybe it is possible for a runner to beat a Bugatti.

I pretty much live on the surface of the sun - Phoenix that is. Today was 113. This DIY project actually seems pretty doable and useful. Skip past the opening voiceover and slideshow in the beginning, it’s awful, but the little air conditioner would be great in a garage or workshop. And listen carefully to the instructions too, I love how you are supposed to ‘me sure it looks good’.

Man regrows finger that was accidentally cut off in model plane propeller. The man used a regenerative powder given to him by his brother, a research scientist.

That powder is a substance made from pig bladders called extracellular matrix. It is a mix of protein and connective tissue surgeons often use to repair tendons and it holds some of the secrets behind the emerging new science of regenerative medicine.

“It tells the body, start that process of tissue regrowth,” said Badylak.

Badlayk is one of the many scientists who now believe every tissue in the body has cells which are capable of regeneration. All scientists have to do is find enough of those cells and “direct” them to grow.

“Somehow the matrix summons the cells and tell them what to do,” Badylak explained. “It helps instruct them in terms of where they need to go, how they need to differentiate - should I become a blood vessel, a nerve, a muscle cell or whatever.”

As a kid I loved popup books. Granted they usually didn’t do a whole lot of popping after a month or two, but they were cool while they lasted. This Alphabet pop up book features the entire alphabet in some pretty interesting and witty ways. Kids will keep a kick out of it and designers will dig it as well. Buy it at Amazon
