HP Elite Slice: The Desktop Reinvented

Posted on 13 March 2017

HP has successfully managed to reinvigorate the PC market by introducing the all-new HP Elite slice. HP has given a new face and a new shape to PCs which is not only easy to carry, but is also very appealing and easy to use and customize. The best part about the HP Elite Slice is that you can carry it in your bag and do not have to worry about the wires, as there is none. It has a stunning 360-degrees copper vent. It is the first desktop with no wires and rounded corners.

The engineers have given the HP Elite Slice a un-desktop-like design. The casing can be opened without any hassle. The four screws underneath can be undone and you will find extra ports for extra RAM which can be upgraded to a maximum capacity of 32GB. The CPUs are available from the sixth-gen Intel i3, i5 and i7 processors.

However, the HP Elite Slice with a price tag of $900 would not allow you to play massive games like Call of Duty, GTA V etc. as upgrades would be required to run such games and that is definitely going to cost you more. This PC features many different ports for connectivity – two HDMIs, one USB-C, and a 3.5mm port for headphones and microphones. The Elite Slice also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

One thing that makes the Slice very attractive is that one can be creative with it as it allows you different modularity options – you can easily add your optical drive etc. The touch keys on the top gives a more sophisticated look.

Some sources say there will be new versions of the Slice with fingerprint scanners and built-in graphic cards powerful enough to support huge games. People are already looking forward to the upgraded versions of the HP Elite Slice, as the current one does not offer much.

Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Review

Posted on 12 August 2016

Dell Chromebooks are trending these days as people like the design and usability. But it is pretty expensive so if you are looking for cheaper options in the Dell series, Dell Inspiron is a great option. So, what makes it a good laptop even though it is not as stylish as a Macbook or Chromebook. It weighs only 1.2 kg, making it pretty easy to carry around. It is currently available in 4 colors and the colors give it a vibrant edge unlike Macbooks.

Hardware
Dell Inspiron 11300 has two full-size USB ports a full-size HDMI port, a microSD slot and a headphone jack.

Battery Life
Dell Inspiron 11 3000 has a pretty good battery life. If you are not streaming anything, the device’s battery can last for a full day. The battery was tested using the standard battery test during which the laptop plays a looped 720p video and the battery lasted eight hours and fifteen minutes. So, don’t worry when you have to complete a document with a low battery, because the battery would last.

But despite these features, the power output of the Inspiron is limited. Keep in mind this is a simple laptop. The websites will take a longer time to load because Dell uses the Intel Core I series for this laptop. If you want to perform a complicated task on this device, it would be almost impossible. In that situation, a device with an Intel Core i3 CPU or above is preferred. The available storage is also poor, with only around 8GB storage of the full 32GB is available for actual use.

But you get your money’s worth as the laptop is inexpensive. If you want a low budget laptop which is good for at least writing documents, this one is a great option. That being said, the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 is a decent laptop if you are not looking for a device for gaming or watching high-resolution videos.

Preview: Samsung SSD 850 Evo (1TB)

Posted on 18 February 2015

Samsung’s new SSD 850 EVO offers you computation at fast speeds primarily due to its RAPID mode. It also works flawlessly and critics are yet to point out any significant flaw about the drive. Here is why you should buy it:

Design
The device is compact and can be easily carried from one location to another. It is also light in weight therefore will not burden your PC.

Features and Specifications
Some of its specifications are as follows:
o 2.5″-7mm thick drive
o Samsung MEX controller
o Flash memory of 32 layer 3D V-NAND
o Interface of SATA III (6Gb/s)
o Max sequential read of 540 MB/s
o Max sequential write of 520 MB/s
o Max random read of 98,000 IOPS
o Endurance (TB written) of 150
o Endurance (GB written) of 80
o Low power consumption active of 4.4W
o Warranty of five years

The 850 Evo is flexible with the TurboWrite technology. This allows the drive to run a part of its flash memory in a virtual high-performance mode that is of single-layer-cell flash memory. This feature is often found to be present at much costly SSDs, as a buffer zone. Throughout any write operation, data present in the host system is first written to the mentioned buffer zone at very high speeds. And afterwards during idle periods, it is moved to the primary storage location. This results in a quicker write performance for the user.

The 850 Evo features a dynamic thermal guard that is able to constantly maintain and monitor the perfect temperature for the drive. This allows the drive to work in the best possible conditions and therefore ensures solid integrity for your data. Whenever the drive’s temperature heats up more than the optimal threshold then its Thermal Guard will act and bring the temperature down. This function is highly effective for the safety and protection of your data and it also maintains a high degree of responsiveness that ensures the computing system is safe from overheating.

The device comes with an easy-to-use Install Navigator that allows users to conveniently transfer data from their existing drives to the 850 Evo.

Conclusion
Due to its user-friendly features and an affordable price tag, the device is ideal for the average user.

Samsung SSD 850 Evo (1TB) – Delivers Incredible Performance at An Affordable Price

Posted on 19 January 2015

For those interested in the 850 Pro, the Samsung SSD 850 Evo will prove to be a better option. Even though it is an official upgrade to the 850 Pro, it instead proves to be of another class entirely. The drive is fast as ever and it functions flawlessly. However, if you wish to better assess its capabilities, read on.

Design
Even though the SSD looks like an 850 Pro, it is 7mm thick. There is very little you can complain about with this internal drive. Even though it may look as though it is no different than the other SSDs available in the market, it is quite sturdy and durable. Additionally, it has a premium feel to it and does offer value for your money.

What’s Different?
If you are wondering what sets this SSD from the rest of the crowd, the answer is quite simple. It is highly recommended for home use and enhances the performance of your computer at the same time. It is the only SSD apart from the 850 Pro which utilizes the 3D vertical flash memory cell. This actually means the memory cells are compiled in 32 layers rather than the traditional 2D NAND flash memory cells. So what does this do you for you actually? For starters, it leaves more room for cells in the same wafer bits, increasing the density.

Features
Similar to the 840 Evo, the SSD also supports TurboWrite and Rapid modes. In simpler words, the feature allows the drive to operate specific sections of its flash memory using a single-layer cell for a simulated high performance mode. This is most commonly found in expensive SSD’s especially designed for enterprises. From a user’s perspective, the drive will perform much faster read/write operations. Moreover, you have the ability to enhance the SSD’s capabilities using the Samsung Magician software. However, the software is only compatible with Windows based systems.

Conclusion
What really sweetens the deal about the 850 Evo is that is comparatively cheaper than any other competing SSD offering similar performance and features. Costing no more than 50 cents per GB, it is a great buy. Based on tests, the SSD made a huge difference in a machine’s performance which is something that most gamers would look forward to.
