Hybrid cars are nice, but if you’re not wowed by cheer gas mileage how about horsepower. 600 horsepower – in an electric. The all carbon-fiber electric looks pretty cool and will do 175 mph. If the guy conducting the interview and test drive would have put down the damn microphone we might of got a glimpse of what it can really do.
Yesterday a French bullet train reached 357.2 MPH (or 574 KPH for the metrically inclined), and did it on conventional tracks. The only faster train is a Japanese bullet train, but that works with magnets. The short video of the French train is nothing short of awesome if you love speed. I can’t begin to imagine what the hell happens to a penny on the tracks at that speed. As much as I would love to ride this thing I don’t think I’d have the balls to commute daily at that on those tracks. Something tells me it wouldn’t take much to derail it and even less would be left intact after it happened.
The new two door Audi S5 looks pretty hot. With a big ass V8 hooked to full time four-wheel drive I’m sure it can move. The video of the S5 is cool if you’re into Audis. A few hot supermodels might have helped spice it up a bit, or me driving it. That would be off the hook.
Artist Billy F. Gibbons created a ball out of a VW bus. Makes me think of a big pill bug. Pretty cool. I can’t imagine it would actually be drivable. Just imagine a giant ball vomit heading down the highway.
Here’s a nice video review of my next vehicle. (Well, right after I sell some organs for a quarter mil). The ‘long bonnet’ 612 Scaglietti is actually a four seater Ferrari – if your passengers are the size of lawn gnomes. Watch closely during the factory tour and you’ll catch chef Jamie Oliver inspecting his vehicle on the assembly line.
Lots of good stuff coming out of the 2007 Detroit Autoshow. One that caught are eye is Ford’s Airstream concept car. Based on the classic airstream trailer it’s shiny and bulbous looking. There are no production plans thus far, but Ford says it has a plug-in hybrid hydrogen fuel-cell powerplant ready to power it.
The Ford Interceptor concept car is aimed at competing with the Chrysler 300. It looks pretty cool and is capable of running on E-85 ethanol. 400 horse 5.0 V8 should make for a quick ride.
