Samsung Notebook 9 Pen Review

Posted on 21 February 2018

It wouldn’t be wrong to claim that the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen is the lightest machine on the market – it only weighs 2.2-lbs! Plus, it comes with the popular S Pen. The notebook functions well but its quality and design may confuse tech enthusiasts.

The hardware design could be a result of Samsung’s splendid metallurgical techniques and technology. You will pick up the notebook and it will feel as if you’re holding something made from plastic, but it is not. The company has used something known as magnesium-aluminum alloy – known as Metal 12 to make the device lighter and durable.

It is not a fancy looking notebook, and that means Samsung has put all emphasis on the performance of the device rather than its aesthetic appeal. However, the company could be more mindful regarding the ports on the device. The device just has single, full-size 3.0 USB port, a USB-C port, an HDMI out, and a small slot for your microSD card. Moreover, the 13-inch, 1080p panel screen comes with vibrant colors that are quite impressive as it will allow you to work outdoors.

Samsung notebook also features 8th generation Intel Core i7-8550U processor, a 256GB SSD, and 8GB RAM. The software is solid and it can handle working on multiple Chrome tabs, daily – prolonged Spotify sessions, and non-stop work on Photoshop without hindrance.

The machine can provide a pleasant gaming experience but don’t forget that it is not designed for gamers. Moreover, S Pen is a simple – silver pen with company’s logo but it works fine. You can use it on the screen to capture areas and can mold images into GIFs without any significant effort. You will get a smooth keyboard along with useful features for $1,399. Professionals or students can invest in the Samsung notebook as it is easy to carry and easily handles all your workload.

HTC U11+ Review: Pushing the Limits

Posted on 13 February 2018

HTC has launched a range of smartphones. And after U11, the company launched the U11+, which is basically the successor to the U11 and a powerfully upgraded version. The company has not revealed any plans to market it in the United States, but it will be available in the European and Asian markets. With a stunning, large display and enhanced features – U11+ is fit to compete with some of the most cutting-edge phones in the market. Moreover, the phone is also incorporated with pressure-sensitive sides.

Large Display

Any smartphone with a large display attracts attention because it enables them to enjoy gaming or watching movies on a larger display. The company has worked on the display to provide better and wider visuals. The U11+, with 6” Super LCD display is all set to impress you at just the right price. You will also experience an 18:9 ratio, with a 2880×1440 resolution and HDR10 support in the display.

The fingerprint scanner has been designed at the back of the phone in order to accommodate and integrate a larger display unit. The setup of U11+ is quite similar to LG V30 and Pixel 2XL. The device is IP68 dust and water resistance. The HTC U11+ will be available in two models 64GB storage and 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and 6GB RAM.

The users have three color choices, Amazing Silver, Ceramic Black, and Translucent Black (which is not entirely black, but has a slight semi-see through impact).

U11+ Features

The U11+ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. The device has 5.0 Bluetooth support. The company has enhanced the phone edges for a smooth one-handed usage experience. This way, on the home screen you can swipe anywhere to reach the notification drawer.

The pressure-sensitive sides are effective features for the users as now; they just need to squeeze the sides to reach to the apps. To your surprise, this gesture can be used to zoom in or out for applications like Google maps, turning pages on Kindle. Besides this, users can add more functions over time.

The newest HTC device has come out with an upgraded 835 snapdragon and has a 12MP UltraPixel 3 (f/1.7) camera with a wider view than U11. Also, with the U11+ you can experience HTC’s Acoustic Focus while video recording. Plus, for the people who are wondering about its battery life, you can avail a 3930mAh battery.

Origin PC Evo15-S: Ultra Thin Gaming Laptop

Posted on 09 February 2018

Origin is joining the Max-Q race with the Evo15-S, a slim, lean notebook that’s great for gamers. The machine has an understated, low-key design, which adds to its visual appeal. The great thing about this notebook is its weight, as it is smaller and lighter as compared to a conventional 15-inch gaming laptop. The overall weight of the Evo15-S is less than 5 lbs, which is significantly lighter than the Alienware 15.

The notebook also features a number of ports that you can use for your USB connections, which include a USB 3.1 port, an HDMI port for VR, and a couple of mini DisplayPort connectors. The display of the notebook is decent, with 94% sRGB gamut coverage, which makes it ideal for gaming. However, you might face some issues with the display when viewing anything with excessive color use.

The Best Part

The best feature of this notebook is that it provides you the power you get with a gaming desktop but in a slim and light design. You don’t have to compromise on the connections you want to set up, and the laptop itself weighs less than 5 lbs.

The Drawbacks

You might find the keyboard of the Evo15-S slightly cramped, which can be difficult for your muscle memory. The laptop also tends to heat up if you use it for an extended period.

At over $1,600, you might find the Evo15-S a bit pricey, but the features and quality it offers make it worth purchasing. The only catch is that the keyboard might not be suitable for your gaming needs, and you probably have to play plugged. That said, the portability of the laptop make it a great device for people who want to play games on the go, but without having to lug around a hefty machine.

Acer Spin 5 Review: Versatile Convertability

Posted on 07 February 2018

Are you looking for an affordable, convertible notebook, the Acer Spin 5 can prove a worthwhile purchase. The 2-in-1 device offers you a wide range of features that you can expect from a high-end product. The Spin 5 comes with an HD touchscreen, a number of ports, a modern build, long-lasting battery, and a stylus pen. The best part is the price point this notebook is available for, i.e. starting at $700.

You can select between 13-inch and 15-inch versions. Regardless of the size you select, the body of the laptop comprises of all metal. Other features include a crisper, shaper screen, better support for the stylus, and the keyboard is an improvement on the previous model. The only catch is that the features don’t offer anything extraordinary. The standard set of features means you are unlikely to derive any inspiration from the notebook. Also, the design isn’t aesthetically appealing either.

The Spin 5 is a slightly heavy system, weighing over 3 pounds. This makes this notebook slightly heavier than other 13-inch models from HP and Samsung, which weigh less than 2.5 lbs today. There is no slot for storing the stylus on the laptop, though the stylus works perfectly if you want to draw or take notes.

The 13-inch version of the notebook is available for $700, which is slightly on the high side. But, you should consider the fact that you are getting a 2-in-1 device that offers you a wide range of applications. And although Acer doesn’t mention that this notebook is ideal for video viewing, you can use it as an alternative to watching TV.

The screen of the Spin 5 is decent, offering great color rendering and you enjoy multiple viewing angles. Moreover, the sound the speakers of the device offer is topnotch, which means you don’t have to connect external speakers, although the audio quality is not up to the mark.
