Oppo R9s Plus: The Selfie Expert

Posted on 22 May 2017

OPPO Electronics Corp., an electronics manufacturer based in China, is well known for producing decent smartphones. In addition, since its inception in 2004, the company produces a range of gadgets and devices, including MP3 Players, and TVs, as well as Blu-ray players. The Oppo R9s Plus smartphone was released in October 2016. The phone offers a 6-inch touchscreen 1920×1080-pixel display.

Powered by 1.95GHz octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor, the phone is available with 6GB RAM and a 64GB memory. The internal storage is expandable up to 128GB by means of a microSD card. It has a 16-megapixel camera manufactured by Sony, enabling you to take topnotch photos. The front camera sensor is also 16-megapixel strong, making it a great buy.

Similar to the midrange R9s, the Plus takes its design from the iPhone which is a common feature in most of the phones offered by Oppo. The design helps the company to sell more phones in its home country where the Chinese population views the iPhone to be expensive, only purchased by people who can afford it.

The Oppo R9s Plus comes with a dual SIM feature and connectivity options include NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS as well as 4G. Phone sensors include Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and Ambient light sensor. Critics have argued over Oppo’s choice of designs for most of their phones. Similar to the R9s, the chamfered edges of the plus model are a bit sharp as compared to the round and smooth edges of the iPhone 7, which the R9s seeks to emulate.

Quick Specs:
o Dual-SIM (4G)
o 4,000mAh battery
o Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor
o 64GB internal storage
o 6GB RAM
o 6-inch display (full-HD)

Overall, the R9s Plus impresses with its midrange specs and nice aluminum built. It is available in gold and rose gold but if you want it in black, you will have to wait until March 3, 2017.
