Xiaomi Mi Max Review

Posted on 24 June 2016

If you like your phones big, they don’t come any bigger than the Xiaomi Mi Max. The phone features a 6.4-inch display, which is comfortably among the biggest going around. This makes the phone ideal for people who like playing games on their phones on a regular basis and also watch videos in high resolution. Well, that’s the good thing about the phone. The large screen makes it a pleasure to watch content on it but at the same time, you might have a hard time using it with one hand. This can come as a bit of a challenge for people who are used to operating a small smartphone with a single hand.

Just imagine: the phone is easily bigger than 3/4th of the size of your hand, so keeping it steady on one palm while operating it with the free hand will be a tad difficult. Not to mention, the phone is heavy, obviously, because of its size, and it won’t be a pleasant feeling if you drop it on your face or chest while using. In that respect, one can say that the Xiaomi Mi Max is perhaps too much phone. It will fulfill your needs but handling it is no less than a challenge.

Well, enough about the screen size, because there is more to the phone than that. Since the phone has been designed keeping in mind the ‘visual’ needs of smartphone users, the processing speed is super-fast and loads even the heaviest of games and videos in quick time. In addition, the battery life of the phone is almost too good to be true. Even with continuous use, the phone will continue to serve your needs for a number of hours on a single charge, which is a definite plus point.

The only catch is that you will find it hard to keep it in your pocket, especially if you like wearing tight pants!

OnePlus 3 Review

Posted on 22 June 2016

When it comes to budget phones, you might assume a phone which doesn’t offer the features and functionality a high-end phone does. OnePlus 3 is set to redefine the perception. Though priced in the budget category, the Android phone doesn’t lack in terms of features and specs and is widely being hailed as the best budget phone on the market today. So, what makes the OnePlus 3 so special?

What Works
The phone is priced at just $400, which may seem steep to you when you read ‘budget phone’, but the fact of the matter is that when you factor in the features it offers, you get a clear idea of what a steal it is at that price. Firstly, the look and feel of the phone isn’t ordinary in any sense of the word. In fact, you might feel you are using a premium phone which cost several times more than what you paid for it. The design and specs are great as well. The processor, in particular, is powerful and you can easily run heavy apps and watch videos and play games without any lag or delay.

In addition to this, the camera is great. It offers crisp and sharp images, something you wouldn’t expect from a budget phone. The battery lasts reasonably long on a full charge but the best part is that it doesn’t take long to fully charge in the first place. So, you don’t have to worry about keeping your phone aside while it charges.

What Doesn’t Work
The only catch is that the phone comes with limited storage space. You don’t have the option to expand the storage and you also cannot change the battery. So, this might be a drawback if you carry heavy media files on your smartphone.

Verdict
The drawback isn’t a deal breaker by any means which means it’s safe to say that the OnePlus 3 is the best budget Android phone you will find on the market today.

Motorola Moto X Pure Review

Posted on 14 June 2016

The Motorola Moto X Pure is a fairly sturdy phone, with an exceptionally tough screen and robust battery life. It’s a highly durable stock Android phone and users find its performance exceptional. However, the phone does come with a fairly large price tag and the speaker could be improved. So, let’s take a closer look at Motorola Moto X Pure.

The Look And Feel
The design of the Moto X Pure is similar to Moto X Style and Moto X Play. It has straight sides and the top and bottom are slightly curved. The frame is made of metal while the customizable back cover is made of ‘ballistic nylon’. The phone is a little more compact than Moto X style, though the screen bezels are pretty wide.

The Features
The phone has a 5.4-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels at a PPI of 540. It has a 3GB RAM with a Snapdragon processor and 32 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB with a micro SD card. It also has a whopping 21 megapixel back camera and a 5 megapixel front camera.

The Good and the Bad
The phone is a tough nut to crack, making it perfect for those with clumsy grips. Despite its tough exterior, it’s still attractive and as an added bonus it performs fairly smooth with a fluid stock Android UI. The battery life is also pretty fine compared to its rivals.

However, the tough display of this phone definitely comes at a price. The Moto X Pure is the most expensive phone in its range, which makes it hard to look over tiny flaws, such as a visible outer screen layer and a poor mono speaker. Also, the phone’s AMOLED display isn’t as good as the top rival Samsung phones, which can be a major drawback for those who use their phones all the time.
