Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 – a Fine Tablet at An Affordable Price

Posted on 23 January 2015

Finding an affordable tablet with impressive features is not as difficult as it was before. Manufacturers are constantly competing with others to offer something new and innovative. With so much to choose from, it can be difficult for an individual to make an informed decision. However, looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, it might just be the tablet you have been looking for all along.

Design
The overall design of the Galaxy Tab 4 isn’t unique, nor is it different. It looks like nothing more than a plastic slab and weighs 277g. However, it is comfortable to hold for long durations. Even though the tablet doesn’t give you a good grip, it has a smooth back that’s not slippery. The headphone jack can be found at the top of the device, right above the display. The micro-USB port is located at the bottom. The volume rocker and lock switch are located on the right while the microSD slot is secured by a flap on the bottom right of the device.

Features and Specifications
With a 7-inch display, the tablet’s screen offers 1280×800 resolution. However, you will be disappointed to find out that the tablet only offers 8GB of internal storage space, of which only half is available for use once you have fired it up. However, the good news is you can expand its memory with a microSD card. With a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB RAM, it performs better than other tablets in the same price range.

The tablet houses a rear 3.0-megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. It is powered by Android KitKat 4.4 with a custom skin. The Android stock menus have been replaced with Samsung’s optimizations which may bother a lot of people who are used to the traditional elements found on other Android tablets. It is worth noting that this tablet has a larger 4000mAh battery which should give you a backup of 10 hours or more, depending on your personal use.

Conclusion
It’s safe to say the Galaxy Tab 4 does relatively well considering the fact it costs no more than $180. However, you can get it cheaper if you buy if online which makes it worth looking into.

Samsung SSD 850 Evo (1TB) – Delivers Incredible Performance at An Affordable Price

Posted on 19 January 2015

For those interested in the 850 Pro, the Samsung SSD 850 Evo will prove to be a better option. Even though it is an official upgrade to the 850 Pro, it instead proves to be of another class entirely. The drive is fast as ever and it functions flawlessly. However, if you wish to better assess its capabilities, read on.

Design
Even though the SSD looks like an 850 Pro, it is 7mm thick. There is very little you can complain about with this internal drive. Even though it may look as though it is no different than the other SSDs available in the market, it is quite sturdy and durable. Additionally, it has a premium feel to it and does offer value for your money.

What’s Different?
If you are wondering what sets this SSD from the rest of the crowd, the answer is quite simple. It is highly recommended for home use and enhances the performance of your computer at the same time. It is the only SSD apart from the 850 Pro which utilizes the 3D vertical flash memory cell. This actually means the memory cells are compiled in 32 layers rather than the traditional 2D NAND flash memory cells. So what does this do you for you actually? For starters, it leaves more room for cells in the same wafer bits, increasing the density.

Features
Similar to the 840 Evo, the SSD also supports TurboWrite and Rapid modes. In simpler words, the feature allows the drive to operate specific sections of its flash memory using a single-layer cell for a simulated high performance mode. This is most commonly found in expensive SSD’s especially designed for enterprises. From a user’s perspective, the drive will perform much faster read/write operations. Moreover, you have the ability to enhance the SSD’s capabilities using the Samsung Magician software. However, the software is only compatible with Windows based systems.

Conclusion
What really sweetens the deal about the 850 Evo is that is comparatively cheaper than any other competing SSD offering similar performance and features. Costing no more than 50 cents per GB, it is a great buy. Based on tests, the SSD made a huge difference in a machine’s performance which is something that most gamers would look forward to.

HP Envy 23xt Beats Special Edition – the Bigger, the Better

Posted on 15 January 2015

If you’re particularly fond of red, the HP Envy 23xt Beats Special Edition has plenty of it. With a new design and louder speakers, it is highly unlikely that you will not be impressed. Costing a staggering $1049, it is expensive, but rest assured it outperforms any competing all-in-one PC available in the market.

Design
The all-in-one is easy to use and is designed to lean back on its easel like stand for a more comfortable surface. Doodling and gaming could never have been this easier before. However, you need to keep in mind that it cannot lie down flat completely. What’s really interesting about the Envy 23xt Beats Special Edition are the four speakers and a subwoofer located below the display. The grille is designed to be bold and aggressive, which is falls nothing short of what you can expect from Beats.

Features and Specifications
One of the best things about the all-in-one PC is that it is light on bloatware. The 23 inch display offers a stunning 1920 x 1080 resolution which is bright and vibrant just the way you would want it to be. The PC is powered by an Intel Core i5 1.9 GHz processor, and houses 8 GB DDR3 SD RAM which means zero performance issues.

With a 1 TB HDD, it should do more than suffice for your storage needs. But if you are an enthusiastic gamer, you may be disappointed with its graphic capabilities. The Intel HD Graphics 4600 will fail to deliver on your gaming needs. However, you can upgrade the components as you see fit depending on your requirements.

HP has been pretty generous with the number of USB ports provided. You will find a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the left side along with a headphone jack and multimedia card reader. But what really steals the show is its impressive sound system. The speakers and subwoofer pump out clear audio and are bass-heavy. It is apparent that HP has not compromised on sound quality.. You are not restricted to pre-configured settings, as you do have the option to make use of the Beats App and tweak the equalizer as you see fit.

Conclusion
The HP Envy 23xt Beats Special Edition performs well and just as good as any other. However, its sound system is what puts in the lead. It is an entertainment machine nonetheless and it manages to deliver on its promises with ease.

Samsung Ativ One 7 Curved – the First of Its Kind

Posted on 09 January 2015

If you are looking for something different in an all-in-one desktop, the Ativ One 7 is a good option. Samsung has upped its game with yet another innovative product that is sure to leave customers speechless. The Ativ One 7 is one of the first all-in-one desktop with a curved screen. However, if you are wondering if it’s the desktop PC you have been looking for, read on to better assess its capabilities.

Design
Curved displays are mostly found in big-screen televisions. Even though it is not considered to be an exceptional feature, it ensures better picture quality and clarity. With a 27-inch display, it does offer amazing viewing angles and will surely immerse the user into thinking the display is larger than it actually is. The curved display also guarantees minimal glare.

With a glossy design, the device outfitted with a metal frame. The silver stand gives the Ativ One 7 a nice touch. However, it is a magnet for fingerprints and dust which takes something away from the overall build quality of the all-in-one desktop. The desktop has a pair of built-in 10w speakers with four USB ports of which two are USB 3.0. Additionally, the desktop has its own memory card reader too.

Features and Specifications
The desktop comes with an Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB RAM. It also houses a 1TB HDD which should be more than enough to meet your storage needs. The desktop will be shipped with an overtop Windows 8.1 and is perfect for people who own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Using the SideSync 3.0, you can receive calls and texts on your PC. Additionally, you can control each and every function of your smartphone by mirroring its screen.

Even though it’s not a powerhouse, it should do well for your entertainment and gaming needs. The all-in-one desktop does lack a GPU which means you shouldn’t hope for it to be your next gaming machine, as it has been built as more of a family computer.

Conclusion
The desktop and its specifications are quite similar to the all-in-ones to be released in 2015. One of its major drawbacks is the lack of a dedicated GPU and SSD options. Since it costs $1,299, a curved display may just not be enough to get the attention Samsung had been hoping for. But then again it is the first of its kind and does offer several benefits which should interest many people.
