Alcatel to Launch Its Evo8 HD in Fourth Quarter of 2013

Posted on 30 September 2013

Alcatel has also made a comeback and rejoined the race for creating great tablets. With a rich history in manufacturing durable cellular devices, the company is now aiming to take the tablet market by storm. The latest model of Alcatel’s tablets is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. With previous tablets in mind, Alcatel fans are now anxiously waiting to see the innovative features of the Evo8 HD.

Features and Specifications
Alcatel has definitely lived up to its name with the Evo8 HD. The specifications of the tablet are very decent and will not disappoint the company’s fans. The tablet features an eight inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1,024 X 768 and the promise of crisp picture quality. The processor of the Evo8 HD is a 1.6 GHz dual-core and features a 1GB RAM. Considering these specs, the tablet is going to be great for playing games.

The internal memory is rather less (4GB) as compared to what other tablets are offering. However, the tablet supports a MicroSD card of up to 64GB, which more than compensates for low built-in storage. These aside, Alcatel has come up with an innovate feature: a Magic Flip-Cover. The optional flip cover lights up to notify the user of incoming emails, tweets and other notifications.

The tablet features a three-megapixel camera on the back and a front facing two-megapixel camera. Both of these ensure one thing: video calling is going to be a breeze on the Evo8 HD.

The company has really concentrated on enhancing the Evo8 HD’s design, which is why the tablet looks great. It is featured in two of the most popular and loved colors: black and silver. These aside, the casing is made of aluminum and compliments the tablet’s overall look.

The expected price of the Evo8 HD is $299 which is fair considering the tablet’s specs.

LG's Answer to ASUs's Nexus 7

Posted on 20 September 2013

A while back, the Nexus 7 took the Android tablet market by storm. Later, many companies produced their version of the reasonably priced Android tablet. While most of these tablets were comparable in terms of features, they were not as affordable. However, when LG introduced its G Pad at IFA 2013, it was apparent that this tablet might give ASUS a run for its money.

The new G Pad boasts amazing features and runs on the Android 4.2.2 operating system. There is no question about the processing speed of the G Pad. It runs a Snapdragon 600 processor, which is a 1.7 GHz quad core. An Adreno 320 Graphics Processing Unit ensures state of the art graphics. In addition, the RAM for the G Pad is 2GB, which provides the tablet immense multi-tasking ability. Also, the resolution of the screen is the same as the Nexus 7, 1,920 X 1,200 pixels with 273ppi.

The five megapixel back camera will enable you to take good quality pictures. On the other hand, the 1.3 megapixel front camera ensures that you have the ultimate video chatting experience. Neither the front nor the back camera will disappoint you if you are making videos. The back camera records 1080p videos while the front camera records 720p HD videos.

You will have ample internal storage with the G Pad as LG has offered 16GBs worth of space. If you have a lot of pictures and videos to store, you can install a microSD card. These aside, the battery life of the G Pad is great as it features a 4,600mAh battery.

The design of the G Pad is something LG couldn’t have done better. Although the tablet has an 8.3 inch screen, it seems rather compact. The aluminum body adds to the elegant look of the G Pad.

Expected Price
LG has not yet announced a price for the G Pad. However, considering LG’s business strategy, the expected price should be comparable to the Nexus 7.
